Natural Deodorant... Have you tried it? What was your experience?
Honestly, I've only had good feedback about this deodorant and that's why I'm sharing it again.
This is also the perfect time to try the switch as it's starting to cool down outside! ❄️
No one wants to swap deodorants during 40 degree heat... 🙅🏽
So why would we want to make our own deodorant?
Antiperspirants are SRSLY damaging. Your body is supposed to sweat. Natural deodorants aim to absorb moisture and deodorise, rather than block sweat glands entirely. If you're an excessive sweater I would look at WHY this may be happening, rather than just trying to bandaid the symptom.
Not to mention the plethora of other chemicals that may be present such as aluminium (to block your pores so you physically can't sweat), parabens, phthalates, triclosan, proprene glycol (which causes irritation and sensitivity to all the other deodorant ingredients) and of course fragrance which could mean absolutely anything.
You can try some natural store bought deodorants first to slowly transition, but if you're ready to jump straight in here's how we can make our own.
(Side note: you will find most of the best natural deodorants are pastes, not liquid roll on or sprays.)
1 tbsp beeswax pellets
2 tbsp coconut oil
2 tbsp shea butter
2 tbsp arrowroot powder
2 tbsp bi-carb soda
16-20 drops essential oil
50ml glass jar or tin
Melt 1 tbsp of beeswax pellets in a double boiler/heat proof bowl in a saucepan over low-medium heat.
Add 2 tbsp coconut oil and 2 tbsp shea butter until melted.
Add 2 tbsp of arrowroot powder and 2 tbsp bi-carb soda until melted and combined.
Take the bowl off heat, let it sit until you cut touch the liquid comfortably.
Add up to 16-20 drops of your essential oils of choice
Pour into a 50ml glass jar or tin (it will start to set quickly so move fast!)
I would recommend equal amounts of:
💧Tea Tree - cleansing & purifying for the skin
💧Lavender - soothes skin irritation
💧Peppermint - cooling to the skin
💧Wild Orange - because it smells amaze with peppermint
But you could totally customise this and use your own choice of oils. One of my essential oil babes has used Lemon, Peppermint & Geranium 🙌🏼 I've also done Spearmint & Wild Orange before too.
Let me know, are you going to give it a whirl?
If you don't have any essential oils yet, get your hands on some doTERRA oils over here pronto.
